\ud83c\udf42 My Favorite Time of Year is Autumn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I don’t think I’m alone when I say that Fall is my favorite time of year. My reasons go a bit beyond the typical ones like bonfires, holidays, soups, the beautiful leaves in so many gorgeous colors, and who can forget Sweater Weather! For me, it’s also about relishing the art of slowing down, putting things like my garden to a gentle rest for the winter, and immersing myself in the forest. Life seems to get chaotic in the summer. Constantly working in the garden – well, more like battling constant pests and animals, going back to college at age 54 – I don’t think I’m the only one who is just plain tired this time of year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While I love to forest walk all year round, there is something a bit magical about it in the Fall.<\/p>\n\n\n

One of my favorite things to do is go into the woods and forage for pretty leaves, acorns, and pinecones along with the forest residents. There’s something about working along side squirrels, birds, and deer only hearing the sounds of the deep woods. It feels like a return to our First Selves. It feels pure. Letting go and forgetting the constant dopamine pull of devices, social media, the noise of the Modern World is so regulating and comforting to my body. When I’m out in this More Than Human World, I’m not experiencing intrusive thoughts – those repetitive negative thoughts about myself, or my life. I am simply another being, a purer lifeforce. I remember that this is what is good for me, what returns me to purpose. Simply looking for a pretty acorn or walking through a gateway to the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n

Take a Walk with Me<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Whether you live in Minnesota or not, I wanted to share one of my special places with you. I filmed this in October of this year. It is a lovely POV walking video where you can see how magical Autumn can be. You can see a few of my forest friends, squirrels and deer! I filmed this at sunrise at the Tamarack Nature Center in White Bear Township, MN. Have a relaxing, calming watch, or put it on for some lovely color at your workspace. This is my first POV video, and I promise to get better at making them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
