🌿 Refreshing Our Greenhouse: The Most Work Done (Part 2)
We officially finished the greenhouse in May, but if you’ve noticed I’ve been a little slow to post videos and updates lately, there’s a big reason why: I decided to go back to college to finish my degree! I’m pursuing a degree in liberal studies, basically the most straightforward path to the finish line and will finally allow me to check that mandatory box on future job applications. While lacking a degree never totally held me back in the past, the job market over the last few years has made it clear that I need one.
If I’m being honest, I’m not even sure I want to keep chasing a career path that hasn’t exactly been kind to me. Right now, I am thoroughly enjoying this pause between jobs—especially not being constantly micromanaged or told to smile. My, how many men have told me to “just smile”. Who knows what the future holds, and we may not be able to afford me not working forever, but I’m doing this for so much more than a resume requirement.
I’ve always carried a bit of shame for not finishing school. Years ago, I was actually so close to being done that I walked in my graduation ceremony. Shortly after, the registrar’s office informed me I hadn’t quite hit the GPA requirement for my major and needed a few more classes. That’s when I got caught in an impossible student loan loophole: I needed to be registered for classes to get my loan disbursement, but the school wouldn’t let me register without the money. It was incredibly frustrating. My life was in complete chaos at the time, so I threw my hands up and told myself I’d go back later.
“Later” took over 20 years to get here, but I finally made it. It has definitely been a challenging adjustment stepping back into coursework after two decades, but I feel incredibly good about finally seeing this through.
With school, I’ve also been gardening all summer, and working on house projects. I redesigned my bedroom to more of a dark Victorian vibe. I can’t wait to show you! I have been creating beautiful POV walking videos of autumn in Minnesota which are also on my Youtube channel. If you’ve moved away from Minnesota and miss fall, you’ll enjoy these.

Anyway, here is part two of our greenhouse remodel series, enjoy! I have to go back to studying.
Stay grounded,
